Operations Controller

Pacific Executive Search is seeking a Controller to join a dynamic and innovative omnichannel service organization. In this hands-on leadership position, you will drive financial excellence across multiple entities within the warehousing and transportation sectors, influencing strategic financial decisions and enhancing operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and AP/AR review to ensure accuracy and compliance
Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, preparing journal entries, accruals, and consolidated financial statements while providing variance explanations
Ensure accurate revenue recognition for warehousing and transportation activities, validating billing alignment and resolving discrepancies in collaboration with Operations
Maintain balance sheet integrity across all entities, managing AR aging, reserves, and intercompany balances to enhance cash flow and working capital
Design and implement internal controls for cash, payroll, and revenue processes, serving as the primary liaison for external audits and regulatory compliance
Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance reporting accuracy and reduce manual workloads, partnering with cross-functional teams
Lead and develop the accounting team, providing mentorship and establishing clear expectations to ensure accountability and continuity in critical processes

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on month-end close and financial reporting
Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit preparation
Experience in transportation, logistics, warehousing, or a closely related industry
Proven leadership skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments

Preferred

CPA designation
Experience with ERP/accounting system implementations or major upgrades
Familiarity with transportation and warehousing management software
