Program Director – Outpatient Psychiatry (Spravato Program Oversight)
Beacon Behavioral Partners is a forward-thinking, patient-centered outpatient psychiatry practice focused on delivering innovative, evidence-based mental health care. The Program Director is responsible for the overall operational, clinical, administrative, and financial leadership of Upswing Psychiatry’s Amarillo outpatient practice, ensuring high-quality and compliant delivery of psychiatric services.
Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day leadership of outpatient clinic operations, ensuring alignment with Upswing Psychiatry standards and regional directives
Organize, direct, and oversee all ongoing program functions, including scheduling, intake flow, Spravato session coordination, staffing coverage, and patient throughput
Ensure compliant Spravato workflows
Oversee all payer and clinical administrative workflows
Ensure appropriate patient intake, transitions of care, and discharge coordination
Lead and monitor quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives, including chart audits, documentation compliance, REMS adherence, and clinical outcomes
Assist with policy and procedure development, revision, and implementation
Address patient and caregiver concerns in a timely, professional manner
Maintain consistent communication with staff through daily huddles, leadership meetings, and monthly staff meetings
Ensure appropriate staffing models for clinical services, Spravato observation requirements, and budget adherence
Ensure leadership coverage at all times
Recruit, onboard, and retain clinical and administrative staff
Ensure clinicians maintain required licensure, certifications, REMS training, and CEUs
Supervise and evaluate clinical and administrative support staff including VOB specialists
Conduct performance evaluations and competency assessments
Identify clinical or operational deficiencies and implement corrective plans
Provide training and oversight for administrative staff on VOB, PA processes, Spravato workflows, and documentation compliance
Foster a culture of accountability and professional growth
Accountable for budget execution, fiscal controls, and resource utilization
Oversee revenue cycle processes including VOB accuracy, timely authorizations, and documentation
Review and approve payroll and staffing hours
Oversee procurement and maintenance of medical supplies, Spravato inventory, and equipment
Monitor key metrics including productivity, access to care, outcomes, and Spravato program performance
Collaborate with Corporate Support Services to ensure smooth operations
Maintain communication with Medical Directors and approve provider time reporting
Serve as a Clinic Ambassador for Upswing Psychiatry in Amarillo
Maintain relationships with referral sources, hospitals, and community partners
Partner with Business Development to promote services, expand Spravato programs, and support growth
Ensure timely follow-up with referral sources
Oversee audits of VOB and PA files
Monitor payer trends and Spravato reimbursement updates
Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations and growth
Qualification
Required
Strong working knowledge of Texas behavioral health regulations, payer requirements, Spravato REMS requirements, and outpatient psychiatry workflows
Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary clinical and administrative teams
Preferred
Experience with verification of benefits, prior authorization workflows, or clinic revenue-cycle processes
Familiarity with interventional psychiatry modalities (Spravato/esketamine, TMS, etc.)
