Policy and Strategic Planning Coordinator

The N.C. Department of Administration is responsible for managing North Carolina state government operations. The Policy and Strategic Planning Coordinator will support policy development, strategic operational planning, and execute special projects while collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance departmental objectives.

Responsibilities

Conduct independent research, drafting preliminary policy proposals, performing policy analysis, and collaborating with DOA division directors and external agencies and stakeholders to assess, interpret, and respond to governmental policies and legislation that impact the department
Providing administrative and programmatic support through continuous engagement with department leadership, offering technical assistance to ensure effective policy implementation and positive service delivery outcomes to all stakeholders
Contributes to the development and monitoring of business and human capital initiatives to ensure alignment with departmental strategic goals
Lead transformative projects that advance the department’s use of technology, promote innovation, and integrate artificial intelligence to achieve operational and strategic objectives

Required

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution
Two (2) years of experience related to the area of assignment
Thorough knowledge of policy development and strategic planning methodologies, practices, and procedures
Ability to understand legislative processes and interpret legislation
Ability to support department leadership in developing and implementing effective program and policy guidance
Proficient in research and evaluation techniques for data collection, analysis, and interpretation
Skilled in identifying, monitoring, and evaluating program and policy trends
Proven ability to establish and maintain working relationships
Ability to exercise sound judgment in planning, problem-solving, decision-making, and collaborating with internal and external partners
