United Way of North Idaho is seeking an Executive Director to guide the organization’s vision, strengthen community partnerships, and advance meaningful change for families and neighborhoods across the region. The Executive Director will lead a diverse team, drive fundraising efforts, and ensure the organization achieves its community impact goals.

Responsibilities

The Executive Director is responsible for the overall impact of United Way of North Idaho in the communities of the five counties we serve, with particular emphasis on increasing its financial capacity to drive the impact agenda. The Executive Director works closely with the Board to craft and adapt the strategy to achieve this increased impact, including raising the funds to support it. S/he will establish and build relationships with top leaders in the community, including those representing the highest levels in business, government, non-profit sectors, and high-wealth donors/organizations in and outside of the service area who share our vision
The Executive Director is charged with driving key results in fundraising; to identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors and key leaders of prospective new corporate partners; to build and leverage personal and professional contacts and relationships into fundraising opportunities; and to promote a culture of fundraising in the organization, both at the staff and board level
The Executive Director serves as the principal resource to the Board of Directors and its key committees and gives strong direction in policy formulation and interpretation. S/he partners with the Board of Directors and the United Way of North Idaho’s staff to craft organizational goals and develop strategies to ensure that they are achieved. S/he ensures coordination and alignment of all United Way activities to the strategic direction of community impact, resource development, and staff alignment
The Executive is accountable for building and leading high-performing teams, ensuring all teams are aligned and collaborating to achieve organizational results. S/he maintains accountability for the operational and fiscal integrity of the organization within policies set by the Board of Directors, as well as guiding organizational spending, monitoring budget compliance, and mitigating financial risks. The Executive Director assesses organizational capacity to implement strategies and identify gaps in systems and staffing. S/he directly supervises staff positions and establishes individual goals and ensures appropriate training, especially in the areas of financial development in today’s competitive market for funding. The Executive Director ensures that United Way of North Idaho's goals of inclusiveness and equity among staff and volunteers are met. S/he brings enthusiasm to acknowledge and celebrate the success of staff and volunteer attainment of goals

Required

Substantial (more than 5 years) leadership experience working in the non-profit sector
Advanced interaction with volunteers and boards
Expertise on issues relevant to the organization
Ability to command the confidence and respect of stakeholders
A demonstrated track record of promoting inclusiveness and equitable leadership and an ability to build collaboration with the community at large
Experience in developing partnerships, building teams and working through conflict management
Experience in building revenue beyond the traditional paths and increasing philanthropic support, with the desire and knowledge to acquire support through new funding opportunities
Must demonstrate a high level of intelligence and intellectual curiosity and a desire to explore new ideas and innovative approaches to solving problems
Exhibits a passion for serving people
Has outstanding interpersonal skills and displays enthusiasm about our work
Possesses a track record of embracing change and seeking creative/innovative solutions
Shows high personal integrity, honesty, character, wisdom, and good judgment
Fair and thoughtful approach to management, combined with the flexibility and courage to shift direction to experiment with new initiatives

Bachelor's degree required
Equivalent Experience: Ten (10) years in a senior leadership role at the Executive Director level may be considered in lieu of a college degree
