They are seeking a high-performing Accounts Receivable Representative to manage the lifecycle of out-of-network surgical claims, handle complex denial management, and collaborate with leadership to improve revenue strategies.

Responsibilities

Handle the full lifecycle of out-of-network surgical and E&M claims
Analyze EOBs to determine why a claim was partially paid or denied (deductibles, co-insurance, contractual adjustments) and fix it
Use insurance portals and direct phone communication to status claims and ensure they are moving toward payment
Draft and submit surgical reconsiderations and appeals that get results
Address patient inquiries regarding balances and payment arrangements with a high level of professionalism
Collaborate with leadership to identify recurring A/R trends and solve root-cause billing issues

Required

Surgical Billing Foundation: You know CPT/ICD-10 codes and understand Fee Schedules and Usual & Customary (UCR) guidelines
The 'Hunter' Mentality: You don't just wait for claims to process; you actively chase outstanding balances until the account is resolved
Technical Proficiency: Strong Excel skills and comfort navigating EMR systems
Communication Skills: You can explain complex billing issues clearly to insurance reps, patients, and physicians alike
Surgical A/R Mastery: Handle the full lifecycle of out-of-network surgical and E&M claims
Complex Denial Management: Analyze EOBs to determine why a claim was partially paid or denied (deductibles, co-insurance, contractual adjustments) and fix it
Proactive Follow-up: Use insurance portals and direct phone communication to status claims and ensure they are moving toward payment
Expert Appeals: Draft and submit surgical reconsiderations and appeals that get results

Preferred

Experience with ModMed/EMA
Extensive experience with Surgical Claims (Orthopedic, Spine, Neuro, etc.)
Deep knowledge of the Federal No Surprises Act (NSA)
Proven experience with the Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) process and arbitration submissions
