Responsibilities
Operate power equipment to maintain turf and meadows in core and natural areas in excellent horticultural condition
Hauling brush, mowing, and raking
String trimming
Performs various tasks including but not limited to soil preparation, planting, watering, fertilizing, bed renovation, mulching, pruning, staking, transplanting, thinning, weed control, and litter removal
Use of hand pruners, loppers, hand saws and backpack sprayers
Pest control
Reserve, check-in, and check-out equipment and daily maintenance tasks
Observe all safety protocols and always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) required for positions and/or specific activities
Report any hazards or unsafe conditions immediately to your supervisor
Other relevant duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Willing and able to operate small power equipment, required
A desire to work outdoors performing manual labor in all weather conditions
Willingness to receive training for pesticide application certification
Valid driver's license and an acceptable vehicle record, required
Preferred
High school diploma, or equivalent, preferred
Experience working in the natural sciences, horticulture or arboriculture, preferred
Experience of tractor mowing and/or fine turf mowing and/or weed whip is a plus
Experience in the operation of stick shift vehicles and other machinery (chippers, weed eaters, sprayers, pickup trucks, etc.) a plus
