Responsibilities
Manage the entire process from receiving material requests, delivering and validating new materials, to approving and continuously monitoring suppliers
Develop and execute procurement plans for prototypes/samples; perform cost calculations for new materials prior to sales quotes
Research materials and suppliers aligned with the technology roadmap; build and maintain a potential supplier pipeline; conduct on-site audits and negotiate contracts
Organize cross-functional team assessments of potential suppliers' capabilities; coordinate audits; lead procurement decision meetings for final supplier selection and allocation approval
Designate alternative suppliers during contracting; manage the qualification process and ongoing collaborative relationships
Handle exceptions in material supply during mass production (quality, delivery, capacity, payment) and manage material changes related to process optimization
Drive cost-saving initiatives through commercial negotiations, developing secondary sources ('B-point'), and adjusting procurement terms and ratios
