Accounting Technician

Nevada Museum of Art is seeking an Accounting Technician to perform routine and intermediate-level accounting functions. The role involves managing accounts payable, banking transactions, cash controls, reconciliations, and payroll processing support while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records.

Responsibilities

Review invoices for accuracy, coding, and required approvals
Enter invoices into the accounting system
Prepare check runs, ACH, and wire payments under established procedures
Maintain vendor records and ensure W-9 compliance
Assist with annual 1099 preparation
Process deposits using remote deposit capture
Monitor daily bank activity and ensure transactions are recorded in the general ledger
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and assigned balance sheet reconciliations
Report discrepancies to Finance management
Perform daily cash drawer procedures
Reconcile petty cash
Prepare and process weekly deposits
Maintain required cash documentation
Prepare and post routine journal entries
Maintain supporting documentation
Follow established accounting and internal control procedures
Assist HR with biweekly payroll processing
Record payroll and benefit-related journal entries
Maintain orderly and complete financial records
Assist with audit preparation and documentation requests
Other duties as assigned

Required

2–4 years of experience in an accounting clerk or accounting technician role
Experience with accounts payable, bank reconciliations, cash handling, and journal entries
Basic to intermediate Excel skills
Basic familiarity with enterprise accounting and payroll systems
Working knowledge of GAAP fundamentals
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred

Experience in nonprofit or public-sector accounting
Experience assisting with audits
Familiarity with remote deposit capture and enterprise banking systems
