This role focuses on resolving complex field issues that impact customer experience and revenue, requiring hands-on experience in DOCSIS, iCMTS, and PON technologies.

Responsibilities
Serve as a technical escalation point for complex field and operations issues impacting production networks
Reproduce real-world field issues in a lab environment to identify root cause and validate solutions
Work closely with vendors, operations, and internal engineering teams to troubleshoot, test, and resolve network problems
Intentionally “break” and stress network equipment in controlled environments to understand failure modes and share findings with leadership
Design, document, and assess network architectures for performance, scalability, and capacity
Evaluate existing network technologies to identify gaps and provide optimization recommendations
Program, configure, and test routers, switches, and security devices
Support the implementation and tuning of data and voice communication technologies
Establish and validate network security, connectivity, and access parameters
Document learned behaviors, solutions, and best practices to prevent future field issues
Qualification
Required
2–3+ years of hands-on DOCSIS experience
Experience working with iCMTS platforms (Harmonic or CommScope preferred)
Strong understanding of EPON / PON technologies, including OLTs (Addran experience is a plus)
Hands-on experience with Harmonic platforms
Solid knowledge of routing and switching concepts and platforms
Experience troubleshooting enterprise or carrier-grade networks in a lab or production environment
Background working for a large telecommunications company or network service provider
Preferred
Experience with RPHY architectures
Exposure to capacity planning and performance assessments
Familiarity with security devices and tuning network security systems
