Responsibilities
Effective management of supplier relationships and strategic direction of partners and suppliers, which includes being accountable for managing issues that require escalation, conflict resolution, driving and improving in-contract supplier performance, and reporting out on KPIs to procurement
Lead complex negotiations through planning, performing cost analysis, drafting of contracts and creating business cases to maximize the value proposition across all major categories
Responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining relevant integrated commodity/category supplier strategies that have a clear vision and a strategic framework for the designated commodity which requires understanding of the commodity landscape, associated risks, and ability to conduct long term planning
Manage the identification, assessment, and mitigation of commercial risks within the supply chain to ensure continuity and resilience
Manage & lead a team of buyer(s) to excel in their strategic tasks by fostering skill development and achieving superior outcomes for the business
Qualification
Required
5+ years of procurement or category management experience with a Bachelor's degree (field flexible if experience is strong). In lieu of a degree, 9+ years of experience is required
Proven ability to manage IT category strategies and supplier relationships effectively
Experience in aerospace, IT services, or automotive industries is highly desirable
Strong understanding of strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and risk mitigation
Independent Contributor: Able to take charge quickly, work autonomously, and deliver results without direct supervision
Quick Learner: Adapts rapidly to new categories and processes; capable of transitioning from IT to Test category management within the first few months
Cross-Functional Leadership: Skilled at collaborating across departments and influencing stakeholders without formal authority
Social & Communication Skills: Builds strong relationships internally and externally; adept at conflict resolution and maintaining professionalism
Expertise in supplier relationship management, including performance tracking and KPI reporting
Strong negotiation skills with experience in cost analysis, contract drafting, and business case development
Ability to develop and deploy category strategies, understanding market dynamics and long-term planning
Familiarity with configuration management and rigorous tracking of category activities
Comfortable in a global, fast-paced environment
Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration while excelling as an individual contributor
Flexible and proactive in managing multiple priorities
Associates degree in Business, Engineering, or other discipline and 7+ years of experience, OR
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or other discipline and 5+ years of experience OR
Master's degree in Business, Engineering, or other discipline and 3+ years of experience, OR
JD/PhD, OR
9+ years of experience in lieu of a degree
