Air Quality Engineering Trainee

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking an Air Quality Engineering Trainee to join the Department of Environmental Protection. Responsibilities

Preparing Comment and Response Documents to effectively address feedback received both internally and during the public comment period
Assessing the technical and economic viability of various types of instrumentation and equipment, such as dust collectors, scrubbers, and oxidizers, which are essential for controlling emissions
Ensuring compliance with municipal and public notice requirements for each application, which involves posting notices of permit actions in the Pennsylvania Bulletin
Monitoring actions and tasks related to applications within the Environmental Facility Application Compliance Tracking System (eFACTS)
Reviewing requests for determinations, plan approval applications, and operating permit applications submitted to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for both new and existing sources at various facilities
Providing guidance to the regulated community regarding compliance issues, detailing how adherence to applicable state and federal regulations can be achieved through proper operation, maintenance, monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting practices

Required

One year of engineering experience, and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
A bachelor's degree in the field of engineering
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree
This position will require possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license
You must meet the PA residency requirement
You must be able to perform essential job functions
