DOC Transfer Coordinator Assistant Program Manager

Responsibilities

Serves as full line supervisor
Serves as Assistant Program Manager in organizing, planning, and coordinating the intake of individuals in custody statewide from the county jails to the reception centers
Implements policies and procedures regarding the movement of individuals in custody
Approves or rejects placement recommendations of the professional staff located at the facilities
Integrates assignment process and policies with other areas, such as Programs, Operations, and Planning and Research through correspondence and personal meetings
Develops criteria or factors for determination of placement
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Required

Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in sociology or criminal justice
Requires three (3) years of experience with individual in custody classification and placement related principles
Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate
Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime
Requires use of agency-supplied equipment (i.e., mobile phone, laptop, etc.)
Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties
Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check
Requires the ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs, regardless of the position held, is prohibited
This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest
Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department
Applicants are required to abide by all vaccine and/or other medical standards as set out by the employer

Preferred

Prefers at least four (4) years of professional work experience assigning individuals in custody to the appropriate correctional facility security level designation such as a such as maximum, medium, minimum-security, or impact incarceration programs
Prefers at least four (4) years of professional work experience processing transfers of individuals in custody in between correctional facilities
Prefers at least four (4) years of professional work experience working with correctional reception centers
Prefers at least four (4) years of professional work experience scheduling intakes of individuals in custody from various types of correctional facilities
Prefers at least four (4) years of experience drafting policy and procedures for a large public safety agency or unit (500 or more employees)
Prefers at least four (4) years' experience interpreting collective bargaining contracts and/or supervising union covered positions
Prefers at least four (4) years of professional work experience reviewing bed availability at correctional facilities
Prefers at least four (4) years of professional work experience responding to correspondence from other individuals in custody, family members, and/or other officials regarding individuals in custody correctional facility assignment
Prefers at least four (4) years of professional work experience utilizing Offender 360 and/or similar type of criminal justice information system
