Sr. Network Engineer

Medical Organization for Latino Advancement is a graduate health sciences university committed to serving the population through interprofessional education. They are seeking a Senior Network Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and managing the university's local and wide area networks to ensure maximum uptime for users.

Responsibilities

Provide Level-3 support, monitoring and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues
Design and Execute network configurations and upgrades, while following departmental production change control policies
Lead other Network Administrators by providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support
Replacing faulty network hardware components when required
Protect data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning and implementing network security measures following cybersecurity principals
Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and other network and telephony problems
Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, access points, VPN, QoS)
Assist with large scale build-outs from a networking perspective by installing and testing network equipment and verifying connectivity to the data network
Utilize software applications necessary to monitor network utilization, intrusion detection, intrusion prevention and IP filtering
Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
Maintain documentation of current network infrastructure
Keep abreast of the latest technologies and trends in networking, security, and cloud computing
Perform other job-related duties as assigned or delegated

Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology/Systems or technology related field
Six years of experience in a position performing duties similar to those listed
Network security experience
At least six years of experience supporting and configuring Enterprise-level routers, firewalls, switches, and WiFi access points and controller systems
At least four years of working with log files to help troubleshoot network connectivity issues
At least four years of creating physical infrastructure system documentations
A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment
Experience with Cisco catalyst, Cisco Nexus, Cisco ISE, Cisco Meraki
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
Project management experience or experience being the technical lead
Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions
Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and supporting network switches, routers, wireless controllers and access points, and IDS equipment is a must
Experience in network problem analysis and finding viable and efficient solutions to those problems
Experience in network performance tuning
Experience in network design and implementations
Experience in advanced VLAN configuration (VTP, RSTP, MSTP, etc..)
Experience with Cisco catalyst switches, Cisco Nexus switches, Cisco FTD 2130, Cisco Meraki MX firewalls, Cisco Meraki MR access points, Cisco Meraki MS switches
Experience configuring Remote Access and VPN technologies
Solid experience with issues that affect network connectivity and the procedures to diagnose problems (OSI model)
Experience in supporting and configuring DMZ, ACLs, and NAT on Enterprise-level firewalls
Experience utilizing log files to help troubleshoot network connectivity issues
Experience working with product vendors in supporting hardware, circuits, and applications
Experience maintaining physical infrastructure network documentation

Preferred

Advanced degree in computer science, business, or education related field
Seven or more years of experience in a position performing duties similar to those listed
Previous experience working in the field of education
IT industry related certifications (CCNP/CCIE/ECMS)
