Responsibilities
Collects patient assessment data to include height, weight, vital signs, chief complaint/symptoms, and current medications for assessment by licensed staff
Prepares the patient for provider evaluation by obtaining specimens, positioning for exams, listing medications, and assisting during exams and procedures
Maintains work area, exam treatment, and lab in a clean, safe manner; restock with supplies as needed
Assists with lab procedures by collecting urine specimens, collecting and preparing blood samples for the reference lab, labelling all specimens with accurate patient ID as ordered by the physician
Documents patient information in the medical record to include updated treatment procedures, medication refills, test results, and patient concerns, etc
Assists and processes all scripts, referrals, and authorisations as needed
Manages flow of patient care, while ensuring phones are being answered, and appointments are as efficient as possible
Schedules patients for injections and infusions
Orders supplies and medications. Check both into and out of inventory
Performs diagnostic testing procedures
Qualification
Required
Current, nationally recognised Medical Assistant certification
High school diploma or equivalent
BLS Certification
High school graduate or GED equivalent
Basic computer literacy required, with intermediate Excel skills
Knowledge of medical terminology required
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations required
Good communication and customer service skills required
Preferred
1+ years of preferred experience
