PARK SUPERVISOR / VETERANS TRIBUTE PARK

St. Charles County Government is seeking a Park Supervisor for Veterans Tribute Park to assist in directing and supervising daily park maintenance operations. The role involves planning, organizing, and directing maintenance needs, supervising staff, and ensuring the park system remains safe and attractive.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Plans, organizes, and directs daily on-site maintenance needs of park grounds, buildings, and facilities within an assigned park or group of parks
Supervises and schedules daily work assignments including maintenance of grounds, buildings, amenities, historic sites, landscape areas, and special project areas by assessing park conditions, work progress and special project commitments
Participates in work required to effectively operate and maintain a safe, clean and attractive park system
Work may include but is not limited to mowing/trimming of park grounds, restrooms and shelter cleaning/maintenance, litter and debris removal, routine maintenance/repair of park facilities
Participates in the construction of park facilities/areas, including, but not limited to, picnic areas, native grassland and wildflower areas, playgrounds, shelters, nature trails, wetlands, biking trails, open turf play areas, wildlife habitat areas
Coordinates efforts required to complete major projects and special events by determining resource requirements and ensuring availability of staff, equipment, materials and other special needs
Participate in recruitment and selection process of full-time and intermittent staff
Trains subordinates in a variety of functions by providing written and oral instruction and by demonstrating proper procedure and equipment operation
Responsible for providing materials, equipment and training opportunities to assure a safe working environment for members of immediate work unit
Physically participates in construction of park facilities and user areas including picnic areas, equestrian trails, wildlife habitat areas, etc
Submit annual budget and monitor operating budget
May be periodically required to assist in Park Programming and activities outside of normal job duties and hours
Assists in development of bid specifications for services, equipment, and materials
Monitors park and capital improvement projects to assure compliance with project plans and receives, researches, and assists in resolving complaints from the general public
Develops an effective working relationship with the public and co-workers in and outside of immediate work unit
May prepare daily and/or monthly reports as required by immediate supervisor
Performs grading and excavating land to improve grounds
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

General/technical high school diploma or GED equivalent
Vocational/technical training in park/grounds maintenance
A valid class A Commercial driver's license with air brake certification, or have the ability to obtain one within six months of employment
Playground Safety Inspection Certification (CPSI) will be required to obtain within the first 12 months of employment
3-5 years of experience in park operations required
If not current CDL, must be willing to obtain or upgrade CDL within 60 days of appointment
Employment is contingent on successfully passing a full criminal background check
