Healthy Brains Global Initiative (HBGI) is a non-profit organization focused on optimizing mental health services. They are seeking mission-driven leaders at mid-career and senior levels to drive system-level change in California's behavioral health and homelessness sectors.
Responsibilities
Project leadership with our partners and service providers. Creating and implementing project plans to roll out HBGI’s tools, including embedding performance management in behavioral health service delivery
Owning client relationships and taking accountability for overall project success
Articulating and winning support for our understanding of ‘performance’ and ‘outcomes’, with the outcomes that matter to individuals at the heart of it
Planning and leading organizational change management, supporting partners to adopt new ways of working. Thinking outside the box and bringing stakeholders on this journey
Developing capacity-building programs and coaching staff, across providers and public sector partners, on how to understand/challenge/manage performance and maximize outcomes
Leading and growing project teams, building skills and ensuring team members are able to work at their best
Contributing to HBGI growth by identifying opportunities for future impact and being an active part of the HBGI US leadership team
Stakeholder outreach, engagement, and research, including with service users to understand their perspectives on outcomes, synthesizing insights into clear reports and presentations
Mapping operational delivery systems, stakeholders, reporting lines, funding lines, client journeys and data, including current outcomes data and where there are gaps
Coaching behavioral health service providers and partners on opportunities to strengthen their services and deliver improved client outcomes, utilizing performance management tools. Co-creating monthly ‘performance packs’ and facilitating performance reviews
Owning project workstreams and contributing to overall project management, with potential line management responsibilities
Creation of learning materials and organizing convenings to share and embed learnings
Building and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels in our partnerships
Qualification
Required
Demonstrated experience leading and improving the performance of behavioral health or related services for vulnerable populations across multiple organizations and delivery models, with clear examples of addressing underperformance at individual, team, and organizational levels
A deep understanding of individual outcomes, with experience configuring and leading frontline delivery to maximize them. Able to articulate performance drivers and identify what is and isn't working, without defining success solely as fidelity to a particular model
Exceptional communication skills, able to tell the story, bringing stakeholders on board a change management journey. The gravitas to hold a room of leaders as well as the humility to engage and listen with people across a system (including service users, peers and families)
Intellectual curiosity and humility, with a willingness to hear different perspectives and to learn more about performance management and outcomes-based contracting
Experience managing frontline services for vulnerable populations, with a strong understanding of performance drivers towards delivery of successful individual outcomes
The ability to analyze and articulate the difference between high- and low-performing services, taking a pragmatic, outcomes-focused approach to service quality rather than fidelity to a single delivery model
Outstanding verbal, written and visual communication skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills, able to build respectful relationships across internal and external stakeholders, facilitate meaningful discussion, and challenge or navigate resistance
Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work with agility, and coordinate stakeholders
Adept at interpreting data (qualitative & quantitative) and relating this to delivery/performance of frontline services. Candidates should be comfortable with Excel-based data and dashboards
