Responsibilities
Design, scale, and operate distributed backend systems in production
Improve application-level performance, reliability, and scalability
Identify and eliminate bottlenecks using observability, profiling, and metrics
Migrate and modernize production systems at scale
Build tooling and platforms that enable other engineers to ship safely and quickly
Partner closely with infra, product, and platform teams
Qualification
Required
5–10 years as a backend software engineer
2+ years focused on system performance and scalability
Background in distributed systems or internal tooling
Strong understanding of infrastructure from an application-level perspective
Proven track record improving latency, reliability, and throughput
Kubernetes at scale (compute services, production workloads)
Cloud-native tooling: ArgoCD, Argo Rollouts, Istio, etc
Strong in Python and TypeScript
Monitoring & observability with Datadog and/or Grafana
Preferred
Experience at big tech or hypergrowth startups
Experience with a major cloud provider (GCP preferred)
