Responsibilities
Advise elderly clients and their families on Medicaid eligibility, long-term care planning, and asset protection strategies
Handle guardianship, conservatorship, and protective proceedings, including court appearances when required
Represent clients in elder abuse or neglect matters, advocating for safety, dignity, and legal protection
Draft, administer, and oversee special needs trusts and related planning instruments
Assist with estate planning and probate matters that involve aging, incapacity, or long-term care considerations
Maintain direct, compassionate communication with clients, caregivers, and family members, providing clear guidance during emotionally complex situations
Qualification
Required
1–10+ years of experience in elder law, probate, trusts & estates, or closely related practice areas
Working knowledge of Medicaid planning, long-term care regulations, or guardianship proceedings
Strong client-counseling and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion, empathy, and professionalism
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Preferred
Experience with special needs trusts or benefits planning
Exposure to elder advocacy or protective proceedings
Comfort working directly with families and multidisciplinary professionals
