Responsibilities
Manage the monitoring and Quality assurance of installation technicians for rack, stack and installation of networking equipment
Commission and test routers, optical transport equipment, and other network devices in new and existing network nodes across Google's global network
Generate implementation plans and provide technical leadership and guidance during deployment activities
Work with project management, network engineering and rest of the engineering team to identify in advance potential problems in network installations, including in the areas of facility power (AC/DC), cooling, security/access, rack layout and cable management
Own network documentation, updating and maintaining network drawings and plans
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
2 years of experience in DWDM or TCP/IP or system design operations methodology
Experience working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment
Ability to travel, up to 50% as needed
Preferred
Experience with network troubleshooting, testing tools, network automation tools, scripting, or SQL to query databases and track deployment consistency along with Linux experience (i.e., run commands, move directories)
Experience identifying recurring errors in deployment packages or specifications and driving feedback loops to improve design accuracy and operational efficiency
Knowledge of both Layer 1 physical infrastructure (DWDM, AC/DC power, OSP/ISP) and Layer 2/3 networking (TCP/IP, routing)
