Responsibilities

Build strong relationships with leaders, stakeholders, and teams within assigned value streams, establishing credibility as a trusted partner of choice
Work across diverse business and technology domains to ensure end-to-end solutions are cohesive and aligned with value delivery
Design and document solution architectures for critical flows within assigned value streams
Provide architectural consultation and governance for high-value or high-risk initiatives, clearly communicating and documenting technical and business trade-offs related to system design
Define solution architectures for cross-cutting, enterprise-critical initiatives that impact assigned value streams
Develop and maintain deep subject matter expertise across people, processes, technology, and business strategy within the value stream
Champion Macy’s target-state (North Star) architecture, promoting robust solution designs that meet or exceed business objectives and align with long-term strategy
Collaborate effectively in an agile environment, participating in relevant ceremonies, design sessions, and planning activities
Identify and drive the prioritization, funding, and adoption of shared platforms, components, and architectural approaches to accelerate delivery, reduce risk, and improve solution quality
Identify and promote opportunities to simplify architectures, reduce complexity, and lower costs across assigned value streams
Actively contribute to defining the value stream roadmap and own the architectural runway
Provide mentorship and guidance to architecture and engineering teams
Participate in enterprise architecture processes, including the Architecture Community of Practice, governance forums, procurement reviews, ad hoc consultations, North Star evolution, and standards development and maintenance
Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities

Required

Proven track record architecting and delivering strategic initiatives within large, complex enterprise environments, aligning technology solutions to business strategy and outcomes
Expertise designing cohesive, scalable, end-to-end solutions across business, application, data, technology, and security architecture domains
Strong understanding of Merchandising value stream capabilities, including Financial Systems, Sourcing and Suppliers, Assortment Planning, Procurement Orders, and Inbound/Outbound Logistics
Ability to balance long-term architectural vision with hands-on design leadership, providing guidance on critical and cross-cutting initiatives
Experience building solutions in complex, multi-cloud environments that include custom-built systems, packaged applications, and SaaS platforms
Skill in providing architectural consultation and governance for high-value or high-risk initiatives, clearly articulating and documenting technical and business trade-offs
Ability to define, champion, and evolve target-state (North Star) architectures that align near-term delivery with long-term enterprise strategy
Strong interest in emerging and disruptive technologies, including AI, with a proactive approach to staying current on technology and retail trends
Ability to connect architectural decisions to business value, cost optimization, risk reduction, and operational efficiency
Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly, persuade diverse technical and non-technical audiences, and earn trust with delivery teams, peers, and senior leaders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate architectural vision into clear, compelling narratives
Experience working effectively in agile environments, participating in ceremonies, design sessions, and roadmap planning
Strong judgment to balance short- and long-term objectives, drive consensus, and enable practical compromises
Ability to identify opportunities to simplify architectures, reduce technical debt, lower costs, and improve solution quality
Skill in shaping value stream roadmaps and owning the architectural runway to enable sustainable delivery
Experience mentoring architects and engineers, fostering strong technical communities and shared architectural standards
Ability to manage multiple priorities, context-switch seamlessly, and operate effectively amid evolving responsibilities, processes, and stakeholders
Strong team orientation with the ability to work across the broader Enterprise Architecture organization to define and champion a holistic enterprise architecture for Macy's
Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply
10 plus years of experience as a technology professional, including 5 plus years or more in an architectural role and 5 plus years or more in the supply chain space
Candidates with a High School diploma or equivalent are encouraged to apply
Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision
This position requires heavy lifting, constant moving, remaining in a stationary position, and reaching with arms and hands.
