Senior Electrical Operations Engineer
Ellaway Blues Consulting is seeking a Senior Electrical Operations Engineer for a client in Fort Worth, Texas, who is an industrial manufacturer in the clean energy and advanced materials sector. The role involves leading electrical operations, optimizing energy use, and ensuring compliance with safety standards in a high-tech manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities
Lead as the electrical subject matter expert for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant electrical systems across manufacturing and R&D environments
Identify, prioritize, and execute electrical projects focused on operating cost reduction, energy optimization, and system reliability improvements
Conduct operational assessments and system reviews to identify inefficiencies and implement data-driven upgrades
Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Finance, and EHS teams to scope, justify, and deliver electrical OPEX initiatives
Drive root-cause analysis (RCA) for recurring electrical issues, unplanned downtime, or cost overruns, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and sustained
Champion a safety-first culture through field engagement, adherence to electrical safety standards, and risk-reduction strategies
Develop, document, and deploy electrical engineering standards and maintenance procedures that support long-term operational excellence
Support engineering, construction, and commissioning teams by providing operational input to ensure new designs align with plant reliability and OPEX goals
Monitor and report performance metrics, including energy savings, uptime, cost reductions, and system optimization KPIs
Provide technical training and mentorship to engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams
Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable codes, safety regulations, and internal quality standards
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
10+ years of electrical engineering experience in industrial, manufacturing, chemical, or process-driven environments
Strong hands-on experience supporting low-, medium-, and control-voltage electrical systems
Proven background in electrical operations, reliability engineering, and OPEX-focused initiatives
Experience performing power system studies, including load calculations, short-circuit analysis, arc flash assessments, and protective device coordination (e.g., SKM)
Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and electrical analysis tools; strong working knowledge of ERP systems and MS Office
Familiarity with critical infrastructure including switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, UPS systems, backup generators, and power distribution equipment
Working knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NETA, OSHA, NRTL, and UL standards
Ability to interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, P&IDs, and equipment specifications
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement in industrial environments
