Product Engineer - Static Seals
Eaton is a global company in the Aerospace Division, currently seeking a Product Engineer - Static Seals to join their team. This role focuses on supporting the design and development of static seal products, collaborating with global teams, and ensuring smooth manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities
Complete the design and execution of new Static Seal products
Support existing customers and implement corrective actions
Collaborate with a global engineering team, including product launches in the US and abroad, product transfers, and technical support
Provide technical support to all internal departments, suppliers and customers as it relates to the product
Verify completed drawings, reports, and change orders for completeness and conformity to standards, procedures and specifications
Verify accuracy of calculations, dimensioning and tolerancing
Work with customers, suppliers, project managers and other engineering disciplines to optimize designs and identify cost trade-offs
Participate in defining engineering approaches including the planning and scheduling of work
Initiate and promote generation of new ideas and document appropriately for possible future patent application and protection
Ensure the successful completion of the assigned projects within the time and cost constraints
Promote cordial relationships. Foster and maintain a favorable business profile with current and prospective customers, vendors, peers and other professionals
Support new product development and capture efforts, as assigned. Learn from lead engineers for personal development for future roles
Provide initial engineering review of customer returned material; work with lead engineers, quality engineers, and customers to determine root cause of failure. Produce failure analysis reports as needed. Lead assigned cost out activities led by the engineering department, as well as support Supply Chain projects to meet annual cost out target
Process drawing updates and modifications, as necessary, in support of production issues or product transitions between factories for the static seals product line
Work with Manufacturing and Quality engineering to provide technical support for production issues within the factory as well as with our suppliers
Perform product engineering reviews of customer requirements, change requests, clarifications, etc
Apply statistical and analytical tools towards effective problem-solving and completion of project activities
Write test procedures and qualification reports in support of project deliverables, as assigned. Engage and support product testing activities in our on-site lab, as needed
As necessary, participate with continuous improvement teams as Product Engineering representative. Work in team environment to meet plant driven metrics for quality, safety, delivery, performance, and inventory
Prepare/review documents including cost estimates (NRE), project schedules, design and instruction specifications, operating manuals, and technical reports
Collaborate with the greater Seals & Accumulators engineering team, learning and supporting additional sealing products in alignment with customer demand
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university
Relevant experience internship, co‑op, undergraduate research, or lab experience in engineering or product development
This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee
No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of 50 miles of Beltsville, MD will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation
Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
Preferred
Advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Manufacturing Engineering from an accredited institution
Experience with metal manufacturing processes (such as cutting, welding, forming, inspection, etc.)
Exposure to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Proficiency in 3D CAD Software package (CATIA V5 and/or Creo preferred)
Understanding of design evaluation techniques such as reliability analysis, statistical tolerance stacks, Failure Mode and Effect analysis (FMEA), etc
Familiar with aircraft product life cycle and regulatory aspects of aircraft design
Previous design, maintenance or repair experience with aircraft systems
Knowledge of related aircraft pneumatic products, manufacturing techniques and materials
Familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) systems for documentation control and workflow management
Familiarity with continuous improvement tools such as value stream mapping, Kaizen, etc
Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) concepts and tools as they relate to minimizing process / product variability – i.e. regression analysis, design of experiments, hypothesis testing, etc
Familiarity with Aerospace Material Review Board and non-conformance concessions approval processes
Knowledge of industry and customer specific quality processes (i.e., ISO9001, AS9100 etc)
Knowledge of product and end user application/specifications, including product testing requirements. (design/process interface)
