Intern, Education Communications (Summer 2026)

Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts is seeking an Education Communications Intern to support their Communications & Marketing team. The intern will write copy for print and online platforms, assist with public relations tactics for educational initiatives, and engage with the Education Department.

Responsibilities

Write and edit artist profiles, promotional articles, and copy for publications and online platforms – such as the blog and various social media platforms
Conduct/coordinate local media outreach
Document in-person events for social media
Proofread and edit copy
Assist with upkeep of a variety of digital and social communication tools
Learn media tracking tools and assist with PR coverage

Required

Strong writing skills
Copyediting skills and sharp attention to detail
Excellent skills in research and organization
Familiarity with social media platforms, primarily Twitter, basic knowledge of analytics a plus
Photography, basic photo and video editing skills a plus
Undergraduate students (must have completed at least 1 year of undergraduate study)
Graduate students
Recent graduates (up to 2 years out of school)
Career-changers currently enrolled in a degree program
International students (J-1 or F-1 Visa required)
Must be physically located in and have a local address in Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia for the duration of their employment
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75 percent of the time
Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment (i.e. calculator, copier, printer, etc.)
Occasionally required to walk, stoop, bend and reach with arms
Lift/move up to 10 pounds infrequently
