Responsibilities
Oversee and manage the organization's payroll processing to ensure accurate and timely payment of salaries, wages, bonuses, benefits, taxes, and deductions
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws, as well as internal policies
Ensure appropriate controls are in place to improper payments
Lead payroll audits and reconcile discrepancies, ensuring accuracy in all payroll-related numbers and reports
Supervise, train, and mentor payroll staff to foster a high-performing and cohesive team
Maintain and improve payroll systems and ensure seamless integration with other HR and accounting tools
Collaborate and contribute to any related system implementations or process improvements
Oversee payroll tax filings, including W-2s, 1099s, and other year-end reporting
Address and resolve employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, deductions, and disputes promptly and professionally
Collaborate with HR, benefits, and finance departments to align payroll activities with broader organizational goals
Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll laws, regulations, and best practices to maintain compliance and improve processes
Manage payroll vendor relationships and ensure service agreements are met
Work with senior leadership to provide needed information for business decisions
Qualification
Required
Eight or more years of experience (YOE) as an individual contributor in one or more of the roles managed, OR Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field plus five or more years of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed, OR Master's Degree in a relevant field plus three or more year of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed
Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered
Preferred
Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
