COMMUNITY CENTER ASSISTANT

NEOGOV is looking for a Community Center Assistant to provide administrative support and recreation-related services. This role involves direct customer service, financial record keeping, and assistance with facility rentals and special events.

Responsibilities

Provides general and specific information/responses, when appropriate, to telephone and in-person inquiries regarding rental and registration processes, department program information, boat passes, miscellaneous payments, etc
Assist with concession desk coverage needs and utilize reservation system for use of individual and team sports, meeting, picnic, and program facilities. Monitor use of facilities to ensure compliance with governing policies and regulations
Reviews and processes financial transaction documents. Ensures accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting procedures
Research various manual and computerized records and files to resolve problems involving scheduling conflicts, payment of invoices, collection of fees and billings, reporting of information, and/or preparation of reports; provides information and technical assistance to departments and the public
Attends concession desk to include providing assistance with ordering supplies, inventory control, record keeping, reporting, and other tasks pertaining to the management of concession operations
Posts cash receipts and processes refunds and invoices as necessary. Balances the daily cash drawer and receipts and resolves discrepancies if necessary
Maintain bulletin boards and kiosks and City of Maitland’s Parks and other Park facilities
Processes membership renewals, new memberships, registrations for all instructional programming, facility rentals, concession sales, boat passes and associated payments
Provides assistance with special event operations including, but not limited to, set up and break down tables, chairs, and other equipment to accommodate programs and special event needs as necessary
Locks and unlocks park facilities as required during opening and closing periods, enforcement of park rules, general cleaning duties, and assisting with other event operational duties as required
Maintains high levels of personal and professional integrity promoting core values, integrity and accountability throughout the organization
Completes forms, writes reports, answers phones, utilizes city email systems, and delivers messages
Must possess strong customer services skills and the ability to communicate effectively to clientele
Assists in special events programming or special projects as required
Perform all other duties as assigned

Required

High School diploma or equivalent and clerical accounting, customer service or a related area; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Extensive experience in working with the public and must be able to operate a personal computer, experience in data entry
Must be able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays (as needed), and 'split' shifts
Possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license
Must also possess the National Incident Management System (NIMS) IS-700 within 30 days of employment and the ICS-100 within 90 days of employment
Working knowledge of modern office practices, systems and procedures
Working knowledge of personal computers and electronic data processing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with applicants, employees, City officials, and the general public
Working knowledge of personal computers and electronic data entry to include the internet, automated spreadsheet software, and word processing applications
Working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; utilization of parks and recreation software, working knowledge of governmental accounting principles and practices
Ability to read, write, and complete necessary reporting regarding departmental activities
Ability to handle cash transactions effectively and complete data entry regarding such transactions
Ability to file documents, make copies, and perform general light cleaning of offices, process general correspondence
Ability to process data with extreme accuracy
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to work under pressure and with frequent interruptions
