Senior Tax Analyst

The Senior Tax Analyst plays a vital role in managing complex domestic, state, and international tax compliance and reporting while collaborating with various departments to ensure accurate tax processes.

Responsibilities
Prepare federal book/tax analysis for supporting workpapers, as well as multistate income/franchise tax returns, extensions, and estimated payments
Assist with gathering, validating, and organizing supporting workpapers, data, and schedules used for tax filings and audits
Support state apportionment calculations and state modifications for relevant jurisdictions
Prepare responses to notices, information requests, and audit related queries
Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax provisions for financial reporting, including deferred tax calculations, return to provision adjustments, and effective tax rate analysis
Work cross functionally with Accounting and FP&A to reconcile book to tax differences, temporary differences, and tax account balances
Support preparation of disclosures and internal reporting packages
Assist with tax entries into Workday (Accounting system)
Perform basic to intermediate tax technical research on federal, state, and international tax issues impacting EDF Trading North America
Draft clear, concise summaries of findings for review by the Tax Manager and Tax Director
Monitor relevant tax law changes and assist in assessing operational impacts
Support monthly/quarterly data gathering and reviews related to sales & use tax, including taxability assessments and reconciliation of tax accruals
Assist with tax support on special projects (e.g., entity restructurings, cross-border arrangements, transfer pricing support, system implementations)
Assist with data gathering and analysis for property tax renditions
Assist with payment submission and documentation
Maintain well organized tax workpapers following internal control requirements and documentation standards
Contribute to process optimization initiatives, including automation, standardization, and improved data management
Ensure adherence to EDF Trading North America internal policies, SOX related controls, and EDF Group tax governance practices
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required or in final stages of completion
4–6 years of relevant tax experience, ideally in a blend of public accounting (Big 4 or mid-tier) and corporate tax
Experience with Federal and multistate corporate income tax
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Tax provision preparation or review
Tax Provision Software
Energy Tax Issues
International tax fundamentals (e.g., BEAT, cross-border transactions)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to interpret and apply complex tax rules with sound judgment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Preferred
Indirect tax familiarity preferred (sales & use, VAT/GST exposure a plus)
Process Automation
IFRS
Ideally, experience with Workday
