Infrastructure Specialist 3 (Storage Team) - Enterprise Computing Services

The Ohio Department of Administrative Services is responsible for supporting the priorities of the state government through innovative solutions and efficient operations. They are seeking an Infrastructure Specialist to provide 24x7 support for enterprise storage and backup infrastructure, ensuring effective management and performance analysis of storage systems.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Installs, monitors/maintains, configures, upgrades, and/or administers/operates hardware and/or software independently for Data Services storage and backup management: 24x7 support of enterprise storage and backup infrastructure
Responding to alerts and monitoring triggers and service out-age support calls
Plan, test and implement regular maintenance and firmware upgrades / patches
Storage and backup provisioning activities
Performance analysis of storage and backup environment
Perform physical installation of storage and backup hardware and associated cabling in multiple datacenters throughout Ohio
Evaluates and/or researches hardware and/or software solutions and provides feedback to project team or higher-level staff
Interfaces and/or performs work with other applications or platforms
Assists in providing IT consultation and recommendations for implementation, ensuring services are not compromised
Provides technical IT leadership for integration of various related systems
Participates in and/or provides technical IT assistance to achieve project tasks/meet deadlines

Required

60 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: evaluating effectiveness and risk of it processes, recommending changes in IT procedures to meet customer needs, and evaluating and/or researching hardware and/or software solutions and providing feedback to project team or higher-level staff including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting
Or completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems; 42 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: evaluating effectiveness and risk of it processes, recommending changes in IT procedures to meet customer needs, and evaluating and/or researching hardware and/or software solutions and providing feedback to project team or higher-level staff including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting
Or completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; 36 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: evaluating effectiveness and risk of it processes, recommending changes in IT procedures to meet customer needs, and evaluating and/or researching hardware and/or software solutions and providing feedback to project team or higher-level staff including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting
Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above
Knowledge Of: Oral & written communication tools & techniques, Customer support & personal service, Technical writing & documentation practices, Storage and Backup Management Platforms, Tools and Technologies (IBM, Cisco, DellEMC), Unix/Linux Platforms, Tools, and Technologies, IT principles, methods & best practices in storage and backup management, Software distribution & configuration management tools & mechanisms, Organizations operation environment, topology, & protocols, Back-up & recovery techniques, Performance monitoring methods, Installation & configuration procedures, System administration methods & procedures, Operating systems installation & configuration procedures, Technology design, Structured analysis principles
