Responsibilities
Oversee all core accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and bank reconciliations
Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis
Prepare and review journal entries in accordance with GAAP and accrual accounting standards
Maximize the functionality of accounting platforms to streamline workflows, enhance reporting, and reduce manual effort while maintaining strong internal controls
Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and internal management reports in coordination with the VP of Finance
Implement, maintain, and monitor internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure policy compliance
Coordinate and support external audits; serve as the primary accounting liaison for annual audit activities
Conduct internal reviews and reconciliations to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements
Support tax preparation and filing activities, ensuring timely and accurate compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations
Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and continuous-improvement-oriented team environment
Stay current on changes in GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and other applicable regulatory frameworks
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
Significant experience in accounting or financial management
Strong working knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Salesforce, and similar platforms
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
Experience coordinating audits and working directly with external auditors
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insight
High ethical standards, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information
Preferred
CPA or CMA
Nonprofit, governmental, or regulated entity experience strongly preferred
Familiarity with nonprofit compliance and governmental accounting standards is a plus
