Responsibilities
Support or lead scope development, cost estimating, and schedule planning
Review and guide development of protection philosophies
Lead development of conceptual designs
Perform and oversee short circuit, voltage regulation, arc flash, and coordination studies
Select and specify electrical equipment, including power panels, ATS, generators, transformers, breakers, circuit switchers, and switchgear
Review vendor and contractor submittals and bills of material
Lead the development and review of comprehensive electrical drawing packages, including Single-line diagrams, AC and DC schematics, cable schedules, bills of material, and communication, logic, panel layout, wiring, and interconnection diagrams
Interface with the CAD operators for creation of construction drawings
Lead construction support
Perform detailed analysis and calculations to support engineering design utilizing various software tools
Apply industry codes, standards, and best practices to various elements of the system protection design
Utilize quality assurance processes, procedures, guides, and checklists to deliver a quality design
Evaluate design and cost trade-offs for design alternatives
Produce material specifications for major equipment
Visit project sites to review conformance of construction to drawings and specifications
Additional duties may be assigned, as needed
Qualification
Required
BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
4+ years of experience in the electric utility engineering field
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize work and manage time efficiently
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Experience in the design of medium or high voltage power systems
Familiarity with ANSI/IEEE/NEMA standards as they relate to power system protection
