Receiving Clerk
Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana is the state’s largest hunger relief organization and one of the leading food banks in the Feeding America Network. The Food Strategy Coordinator is responsible for data entry of products received through donations and purchases, ensuring accurate inventory management and compliance with food safety guidelines.
Responsibilities
Primary functions include entry of all product receipts into our warehouse management system (WMS), ensuring all incoming shipments are recorded accurately and in a timely manner
Verify accuracy on type and quantity of product being received versus what was ordered or expected according to purchase or donation orders
Use WMS to process the movement of inventory on or for packing or repacking operations
Review and document product quality issues
Scan and record nutrition values of product received into our WMS
Record allergens on the item card
Scan Bill of ladings into our computer system and send a copy to our donors/vendors as needed
Maintain inventory integrity on a per warehouse receipt transaction regarding purchased, donated and government allocated product, alongside cost of product on receipt
Communicate with warehouse management, other departments, and other business partners to maximize efficiency, maintain inbound load accuracy, and assist in resource allocation
Assist in product forecasting, planning, sales support, and purchase support
Schedule all inbound/outbound shipments to Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana
Maintain and improve processes and data within our WMS
Work safely and accurately with minimal supervision
Change tasks and assignments as the needs of Food Strategy team requires
Ensure compliance and adherence to all food safety guidelines according to GFB, Feeding America, AIB, USDA, ISDH and any other applicable processes or regulations for safe and sanitary production and storage of all products
All other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience
Prior experience in customer service, logistics, warehousing, and data management is desired
Excellent interpersonal, oral, written communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to read, write and to understand instructions
Problem solving – identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner; developing alternative solutions; working well in group problem solving situations
General knowledge of warehouse processes and warehouse systems, intermediate PC skills including Microsoft Office applications, Outlook and ERP
Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with all staff members, agencies, volunteers, and donors
Ability to perform basic math functions, (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
Ability to count accurately and maintain accurate records
Understands warehouse inventory
Be accountable and meet deadlines on a consistent basis
Maintain a positive attitude
Ability to execute instructions with exacting (100% compliance) attention to detail
