Director (Total Fund Strategies)
The United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund is seeking a Director of Total Fund Strategies to shape the investment direction of one of the world's largest public pension funds. This senior leadership role involves supporting the Chief Investment Officer in directing investment strategies, overseeing asset allocation, and managing portfolio risk.

Responsibilities
Supports the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) in implementing investment policies and strategies established by the Representative of the Secretary-General (RSG), in consultation with the Investments Committee and Pension Board
Oversees the Asset Allocation, External Manager, and Quantitative Investment teams, ensuring alignment with Fund-level objectives
Assists the CIO in developing tactical asset allocation strategies through monitoring macroeconomic trends, conducting fundamental and technical market analysis, and developing analytical tools across asset classes and regions
Supports the CIO in formulating and recommending investment policies and strategies to the RSG, including Strategic Asset Allocation and quantitative investment approaches
Explores new asset classes, investment strategies, and innovative approaches in collaboration with investment teams across OIM
Monitors the external manager selection process and evaluates the performance of appointed external investment managers
Develops and oversees portfolio hedging strategies to manage risk and enhance portfolio resilience
Supports staff training, professional development, and knowledge-sharing initiatives to strengthen institutional investment expertise
Assists the RSG and CIO in reporting to the Investments Committee, Pension Board, ACABQ, and Fifth Committee
Oversees the preparation of reports on investment performance, portfolio structure, market conditions, investment outlook, and funding requirements
Supports presentations and defenses of investment, financing, and staffing proposals before UN governing bodies
Supports contract negotiations with investment advisors and external managers and oversees their ongoing performance
Represents the Office of Investment Management in internal and external meetings, forums, and stakeholder engagements
Participates in Fund-wide strategic initiatives, including Asset-Liability Management Studies, Benchmark Studies, and oversight of the Private Markets portfolio
Performs other related duties as required
Qualification
Required
Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, Economics, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree combined with additional qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree
A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in institutional investment management and asset allocation is required
At least 10 years of experience within long-term, large-scale institutional investment organizations (such as pension funds or sovereign wealth funds) managing portfolios of USD 10 billion or more is required
At least 5 years of experience in senior portfolio management or leadership roles, with a proven investment performance track record, is required
At least 10 years of experience managing asset allocation strategies in-house is required
Demonstrated experience applying both fundamental and quantitative investment analysis across asset classes is required
Preferred
Experience in establishing asset allocation strategies using a Total Portfolio Approach is desirable
At least 5 years of experience conducting due diligence for the selection and monitoring of external investment managers is desirable
Experience with rule-based quantitative asset allocation strategies and systematic portfolio management is desirable
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is desirable
