Responsibilities
Lead components of monthly and quarterly close processes
Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analytics
Ensure proper accounting treatment for mortgage-related transactions under GAAP
Prepare internal financial reporting packages for senior finance leadership
Oversee accounting across the mortgage lifecycle from funding through investor sale
Manage accounting for premiums/discounts, fees, reserves, and mortgage-related accruals
Support recognition of loan sale gains and losses
Partner with capital markets teams on loan sale settlements and cash activity
Oversee accounting related to warehouse lending facilities
Monitor daily funding activity, payoffs, and line utilization
Ensure accurate posting of interest, fees, and lender reporting requirements
Support liquidity monitoring and borrowing base reporting
Supervise and mentor accounting staff
Review team work products including reconciliations and journal entries
Drive process discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement
Support internal and external audit processes
Strengthen accounting and operational controls
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve system integrations
Qualification
Required
5+ years of accounting experience within mortgage lending or a related financial services environment
Strong understanding of GAAP
Advanced Excel skills required
Prior team leadership or supervisory experience
Preferred
Experience with loan accounting and warehouse lending structures strongly preferred
Experience with loan accounting systems or mortgage platforms is a plus
