Quality Engineer
ArcelorMittal Calvert is a global leader in steel manufacturing, utilizing innovative technology to produce high-value steel grades. The Quality Engineer will provide engineering support through process optimization and continuous improvement to meet quality goals.
Responsibilities
Manage daily disposition of steel coils across various grades due to mechanical failures, coordinating with engineering teams to identify root causes and implement process improvement initiatives
Deliver project-specific data packages to customers on a weekly basis, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
Track and analyze quality rejects, rework rates, and product yield to support tactical execution of the commercial business strategy
Evaluate customer and industry material specifications in meeting dimensional, chemical, mechanical, and other technical requirements
Serve as a liaison between Technical Services and Mill Quality/Operations teams to address product quality concerns related to production orders
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in business, science, or any related engineering discipline
Experience in research, operations, quality assurance, product development and/or manufacturing
Knowledge of process/product improvement methodologies (such as Six Sigma)
Experience in failure investigation and root cause analysis in a metallurgical environment
Proficiency in Statistical Data Analysis
Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred
A Bachelor of Science in Materials or Metallurgical Engineering degree is preferred
SAP and MES experience
Query building and SAS data analysis experience
Experience in the application of Lean Six Sigma to improve product performance and reliability through process redesign
Metallurgical understanding of the production and processing of flat-rolled steel products
