Associate Counsel
Akron Children's is seeking an Associate Counsel to provide legal support and advice to the hospital and its affiliates. The role involves conducting legal research, assisting in contract negotiations, and collaborating with various departments to address legal issues.

Responsibilities
Conduct legal research and analysis to support various legal matters, including contract review, compliance issues and potential litigation
Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, drafts policies and procedures related to hospital operations and other legal matters, and provides on-demand legal advice and counsel for departments across the health system
Collaborate with other departments such as human resources, finance, and medical staff to address legal issues
Provides support for special projects and matters as assigned by the Chief Legal Officer
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school is required
Licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio (or ability to obtain licensure) is required
Knowledge of Ohio and Federal healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, and Medicare/Medicaid
Drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills and a demonstrated ability to provide clear, actionable advice to internal clients across the health system
Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Preferred
Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, with a focus on healthcare law is preferred
Prior in-house counsel experience preferred, ideally in a healthcare organization
Experience in one or more of the following practice areas: physician contracting, corporate transactions, governance, patient privacy, and consent laws for minors
