Responsibilities

Conduct fire protection inspections of facilities, equipment, and operations to identify hazards, ensure code compliance, and initiative corrective actions to protect life, property, and mission operations
Plan, schedule, and deliver fire prevention, evacuation, firefighting, and hazardous materials training, including lesson plan development and drills
Enforce fire prevention programs including fire watch operations, hot work permits, drills, and safety briefings to reduce risk and improve regulatory compliance
Review construction and renovation project plans, specifications, and drawings to verify incorporation of required fire protection and fire prevention engineering features for new construction, alternations, and additions
Respond to fires, medical emergencies, rescues, and accidents while operating apparatus and performing suppression, rescue, overhaul and patient care duties

Required

One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Conducting fire protection and prevention inspections; (2) detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; and (3) developing, implementing, or providing training in fire protection and prevention
Possess for the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (NREMT) or state certification in the United States indicating a future expiration date
Possess and maintain Firefighter I and II, Hazardous Materials Technician, Fire Inspector I and II, Fire Instructor I, and Public Fire and Life Safety Educator Certifications certified through Department of Defense (DoD) Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (Pro Board)
Completion of pre-employment and periodic subsequent medical examination in accordance with DoDM 6055.06
Lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties
Possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles
Successful completion of an annual Job Performance Test
Conform to the requirements set-forth in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1500, Fire Department Occupational Health and Safety Program
Participation in a cardiovascular physical fitness program
Work both inside and outside with possibility exposure to inclement weather
Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315
