Responsibilities
Partner with Accounting Policy leadership to support the Company’s accounting policy strategy
Review and analyze complex transactions with Finance and business partners to determine appropriate accounting and reporting treatment
Monitor and assess emerging accounting standards and regulatory guidance from the FASB, NAIC, and other bodies
Develop and communicate accounting positions on emerging issues to senior finance leadership
Lead the interpretation and implementation of new accounting standards and regulatory reporting requirements
Engage lines of business to assess the impact of accounting changes and participate in the standard-setting process
Coordinate with standard setters, regulators, and industry groups to advocate Company positions
Maintain and update corporate accounting policies, including assessing risks related to policy changes
Provide training and guidance on new accounting policies
Drive continuous improvement of accounting policy processes
Maintain strong relationships with external auditors and regulators
Ensure compliance with internal controls over financial reporting
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or accounting policy experience within an insurance company or financial institution
Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, insurance accounting, and regulatory reporting
Demonstrated ability to independently research and resolve complex accounting issues
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence across levels
Strong ownership mindset with the ability to manage priorities and drive results
Strategic thinker with strong relationship-building skills and adaptability to change
Preferred
Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
CPA license helpful, not mandatory
