Responsibilities

Provide technical support, troubleshoot problems, and resolve production issues of various scope and complexity relating to quality
Define technical problems and create solutions in a manufacturing environment
Collaborate with design engineering on incorporating changes to the designs which improve manufacturability
Develop, implement, maintain, and improve processes in the manufacture of printed circuit assemblies
Provide technical assistance and training support to manufacturing technicians
Initiate and champion Lean/Six Sigma initiatives
Determine proper flow and sequence of material for efficient build process and establish methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel
Analyze, develop, and execute cost reduction opportunities for manufacturing processes
Provide technical interpretation of drawings and specifications
Evaluate, select, and recommend capital process equipment
Perform cost payback analysis and generate Acquisition Requests when needed
Eliminate/reduce test defects and improve test yields
Perform root cause analysis and take corrective action to resolve failures
Study process equipment performance and implement solutions to decrease equipment downtime
Maintain awareness of the state-of-the-art technologies in the assigned area

Required

Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
3+ Years of experience in Surface Mount Technology (SMT) primary and Through Hole processes
3+ Years of experience as a Process Engineer

Preferred

Experience with LEAN manufacturing/theory of Constraints
Practical experience applying Statistical Process Control Methods
Thorough knowledge of IPC-A-6xx standards
SMT processes like: Dip and Axial, Select Solder, Vapor Phase, Panel routing, Semi Auto Insertion
Effective written and oral communication skills with proficiency in the MS Office suite
Effective time management and organizational skills to set and achieve goals and maintain accountability
Desire to mentor and develop emerging engineers
