Responsibilities
Lead, manage, and develop the payroll team, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement
Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for salaried, hourly, and contingent employees across multiple locations and jurisdictions
Ensure compliance with all applicable payroll, tax, wage and hour, and labor laws
Establish and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls
Manage payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting, including year-end activities (W-2s, 1099s, etc.)
Partner with Finance on payroll accounting, accruals, general ledger postings, and cash forecasting
Collaborate with HR on compensation changes, benefits deductions, timekeeping, and employee data management
Evaluate, implement, and optimize payroll systems and third-party vendors
Resolve complex payroll issues and employee escalations with professionalism and discretion
Monitor payroll metrics and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
Support mergers, acquisitions, and organizational growth initiatives as they relate to payroll
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field
8+ years of progressive payroll experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or director-level role
Deep knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements
Proficiency with Workday and strong Excel skills
Preferred
Master's degree
Experience managing multi-state and/or international payroll
