Manager, E&M Training and Safety Programs

Responsibilities

Support the development, implementation, and management of safety programs (e.g., Hazard Communications Plan, Shop Safety, Electrical Safety, Fall Protection, etc.), including developing and tracking, Fall Protection, etc.), including developing and tracking of key performance indicators
Support the development of a culture that prioritizes safety, employee and rider health and wellbeing, and employee satisfaction
Support the development and dissemination of safety-related communications, campaigns, and special events
Identify training needs, conduct safety orientation and training programs, including train-the trainer sessions
Maintain operational knowledge of construction safety, DLS, OSHA, ANSI, and other applicable standards, regulations, laws, and procedures
Serve as a resource for safety issues or concerns for all E&M team members
Accompany MBTA Safety, DLS, DPU, insurance and OSHA personnel on work-site tours
Support the development of Local Safety Committees within E&M
Conduct work area safety audits
Review departmental work plans to ensure safety is adequately incorporated
Evaluate and offer solutions for job site hazard mitigation
Ensure maintenance and inspection of safety equipment and protective wear
Oversee documentation, tracking, and analysis of all Safety, Injury, and Hazard statistics, trend analyses, and DLS reports
Conduct or assist with incident investigation and analysis
Support the implementation of incident Corrective Action Plan
Drive a company or personal vehicle to work locations and to assist at emergencies and/or events as needed
Respond to each inquiry, whether from a customer, vendor, or co-worker, in a professional and courteous manner
Work any and all shifts and/or locations as assigned or directed
Respond or report to work as directed for emergencies, extreme weather conditions, or any other abnormal conditions that impair service or the safety of service, twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week
Uphold the rights and interests of the Authority while building and maintaining an effective relationship with employees
Assist in the management of a workforce by ensuring the fair and consistent application and strict adherence to the rules, regulations, collective bargaining agreements (if applicable), and policies of the Authority, including the EEO, Anti-Discrimination, Anti-Harassment, and Anti-Retaliation policies
Perform all other duties and projects that may be assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, construction management, engineering, or equivalent
Five (5) years of relevant experience in occupational health and safety
One (1) year supervisory/lead experience
Experience in creating, implementing, managing, and/or auditing OSHA/worker safety policies and programs
Working knowledge of OSHA workplace safety concepts and programs including Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs), hierarchy of controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE)
Detail orientation sufficient to organize and run multiple project tasks
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
Effective organizational, analytical, confidentiality, multi-tasking, time management and interpersonal skills
Have excellent customer service, conflict resolution, writing, and speaking skills
The ability to provide internal and external customers with a courteous and professional experience
The ability to supervise and work effectively with a diverse workforce
Possess a valid driver's license

Preferred

Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification
Technical experience related to the type of work performed by the department
Experience developing and providing safety training
Additional years of continuous construction experience leading crews and planning work in the maintenance and construction of overhead and underground power lines and equipment
CHST Certification, OSHA 500, and seven (7) years as a dedicated construction safety professional responsible for managing safety programs, conducting/reviewing hazard analyses and developing controls, conducting safety training, planning work activities, or equivalent experience in a relevant field
Two (2) years of supervisory experience managing a team or large projects
