Nova Southeastern University is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Analyst to support its Financial Operations team. This role is critical in ensuring institutional tax compliance and advancing strategic tax planning initiatives across the University.

Responsibilities

Manage federal and state Foreign Gift & Contract reporting
Oversee nonresident alien tax withholding and reporting
Review independent contractor classifications and fringe benefit tax implications
Conduct technical tax research and prepare tax memorandums
Monitor tax law changes and assess institutional impact
Advise on tax considerations for grants, contracts, and new programs
Develop tax compliance procedures and internal controls
Partner with HR, Payroll, Procurement, and other departments on tax matters
Assist with federal, state, and local tax filings (including income and sales/use tax)

Tax accounting experienceFederal/state tax regulationsAnalytical skillsExcel proficiencyCommunication skillsProblem-solving skillsBachelor’s degreeMaster’s in TaxCPAIRS Form 990Higher education tax issues

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of tax accounting experience (higher education or nonprofit preferred)
Strong knowledge of federal/state tax regulations, fringe benefits, worker classification, and nonresident alien taxation
Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Excel and Word

Preferred

Master's in Tax, JD, or LLM
CPA preferred
Experience with IRS Form 990
Familiarity with higher education tax issues
