Responsibilities

Function as the Director of the Office of Strategic Industries and Economic Security (SIES) Defense Programs Division, responsible for policy and administrative functions on various national security programs
Define and institute new methods and strategies to meet key agency requirements and program objectives and oversee staff who participate in fulfilling these requirements and objectives
Provide regulatory or oversight coverage which extends to most or all government agencies or private sector entities involved in the U.S. industrial base, critical technologies, and economic and trade issues
Will be responsible for direction and integration of the contributions of senior business and industry professionals both within and outside the employing organization that may impact U.S. industrial base, critical technologies, and economic and trade issues
Represent the bureau as an authority and spokesperson to other government agencies, to top business and industry officials and to significant congressional staff and committees

You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position
This position requires a TOP SECRET/SCI CLEARANCE: Any required investigations and clearances must be completed before the selectee can be placed in the position
You must successfully pass a background investigation. This may include a credit check, a review of financial issues, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use of possession of drugs
A probationary or trial period may be required
A supervisory probationary period may be required
Selective Service: Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service
If you receive a conditional offer of employment for this position, you will be required to complete an Optional Form 306, Declaration for Federal Employment, and to sign and certify the accuracy of all information in your application
All Federal employees are required to have Federal salary payments made by direct deposit to a financial institution of their choosing
Drug Test Required: Yes - Except as prohibited by law, all applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment, and appointed the incumbent will be subjected to random drug testing procedures
Time-in-grade/band requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement unless eligible for special hiring authority, reinstatement eligible, non-current Federal employee applying as a VEOA eligible which do not require time-in-grade/band
Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service
You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 in the Federal service
Specialized experience is defined as: Providing policy guidance in developing and/or implementing business and industry programs related to the United States defense industrial base, critical technologies, and/or economic and trade issues; and Developing analyses, technical information, and/or written products in support of business and industry programs; and Representing an organization in discussions with government agencies, senior level business, industry, and academic officials, and/or congressional staff and committees
