Responsibilities

Analyze macroeconomic, regional, and labor market data to identify trends in employment, wages, consumer activity, inflation, and industry performance
Support economic and demographic analyses related to regional growth, workforce conditions, and business climate
Assist with industry and sector analyses, including employment structure, occupational composition, and regional specialization
Locate, collect, clean, and maintain economic and demographic data from federal, state, and local sources (e.g., BLS, BEA, Census, CDLE)
Manage and update internal databases and recurring data products to ensure accuracy and consistency
Organize datasets to allow efficient analysis and integration into reports, dashboards, and presentations
Research and write economic reports, briefs, and data summaries based on quantitative analysis and established templates
Translate complex economic and statistical findings into clear, concise narratives suitable for non-technical audiences
Contribute to recurring economic publications as well as ad hoc research projects
Collaborate with economists and research staff on multidisciplinary projects spanning labor markets, industry analysis, housing, policy, and regional growth
Support senior team members with data analysis, research tasks, and presentation preparation
Coordinate with internal and external partners as needed to support data collection and research efforts

Required

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Applied Economics, Labor Economics, Economic Development, Data Science, or related field
0-3 years of relevant professional experience in applied economic research, data analysis, or related field
Demonstrated experience conducting quantitative analysis and empirical research using economic or labor market data
Familiarity with statistical software such as Excel, Stata, R, Python, or similar
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends and produce clear takeaways from data
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present research findings to non-technical audiences
Familiarity with national, state, and local economic data sources and their interpretation
Strong attention to detail and data organization skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, project-based environment
