Business Data Analyst - P&C Insurance
PremiumIQ is a specialized consulting firm dedicated to delivering data and analytics solutions to clients in the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance industry. The Business Data Analyst will work closely with business users and IT professionals to define data requirements, perform data analysis, and develop data solutions while ensuring data accuracy and integrity.

Responsibilities
Work with business users and IT professionals to understand business needs and define data requirements
Perform data discovery on insurance datasets to identify relationships, patterns, anomalies, and value ranges
Collaborate with IT and business teams to develop data solutions that meet business requirements
Ensure data accuracy and integrity by conducting thorough data validation and testing
Write SQL queries to retrieve, transform, and aggregate data from relational databases
Create source-to-target maps, including SQL and business rules
Participate in client meetings, workshops, and presentations to understand client objectives and challenges
Build strong relationships with client stakeholders by producing high-quality deliverables and exceptional client service
Communicate findings in a clear and concise manner to technical and non-technical audiences
Manage deliverables and work from a project backlog
Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in data analytics, P&C insurance, and consulting
Develop expertise in insurance data analytics
Seek out and actively participate in internal and external training programs to enhance skills and knowledge
Contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives by sharing insights, experiences, and industry research
Qualification
Required
2-3 years of P&C insurance experience is required
4-6 years of SQL experience with the ability to write complex queries and optimize their performance is required
Experience with the creation and validation of source-to-target mappings is required
Strong knowledge of ETL processes, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts is required
Experience with data modeling concepts
Experience working with Agile development methodologies
3+ years as a business data analyst in the P&C Insurance domain is required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and clients
Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to delivering high-quality work within tight deadlines
Must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer without current visa transfer or future sponsorship
Preferred
Ability to understand and develop ETL pipelines is desirable
Prior experience in management consulting is desirable
Knowledge of ACORD P&C Insurance industry information models is desirable
Familiarity with cloud platform Azure and Snowflake is desirable
Prefer candidates local to the Chicago, IL area; however, open to candidates living outside of the Chicago area but must be willing to travel to client location as needed (up to 50%)
