SENIOR DESIGN ENGINEER
Christensen Arms is a company focused on innovative firearm design and development. They are seeking a Senior Design Engineer who will apply scientific principles to innovate and develop technologies and systems while ensuring compliance with specifications and requirements.

Responsibilities
Prepares new or revised designs, drawings and working plans to improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations that meet agreed upon product requirements
Creates and presents manufacturing plans using design for manufacturing reviews to ensure effectiveness, viability and quality of manufacturing processes
Develops and executes test plans that ensures product designs meet all product performance, reliability, cosmetic and quality requirements
Provides technical leadership and assists in training less experienced engineers to help them diagnose and solve problems and build employee capabilities
Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development to exchange information, ideas and techniques for design of product or processes
Communicates with the other engineering personnel to coordinate the interrelated manufacturing process design efforts and ensure project completion
Confers with manufacturing engineering, quality and supply chain personnel on specifications to evaluate interface between hardware and operational and performance requirements of overall system
Ensures adherence to the engineering budget and utilizes available scarce resources wisely
Qualification
Required
Applies scientific principles to innovate, design, develop, test and implement technologies, components, sub-systems, machines, tooling and systems to ensure compliance to specifications, requirements and customer guarantees across applicable operating conditions
Ensures novel ideas and implementations are captured and protected using applicable IP processes and tools
Designs major components or major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes and promotional or specific products using computer aided design, computer aided simulation and other engineering tools & processes
Develops or improves products and facilitates manufacturing operations
Develops data and makes layouts, sketches and notes for design proposals
Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace-ability, strength-weight efficiency and contractual specification requirements and cost
Designs, develops and tests metallic and non-metallic structures or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designs
Manages new product development projects

Understands instinctively the scientific method and making design decisions using experimentally derived data
Able to mentor and support a team of primarily intermediate to experienced design and manufacturing engineering professionals
Capable of setting objectives and guiding others on execution/approach for achievement of operational results

Explains policies, practices and procedures and will influence others through leadership by example

Possess, at a minimum, a bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering and 10 years of relevant design or manufacturing engineering experience OR, possess, at a minimum, 15 years of prior, relevant design experience and can demonstrate examples of technical engineering proficiencies
Preferred
Experience designing firearms is desired
Experience in design for metal casting, composite and plastic injection molding components is desired
Master's degree in engineering or other technical field is a plus
Demonstrated skills in leadership, mentorship, training and can influence others
