TRAINING INSTRUCTOR (AEROSPACE PROPULSION)

USAJOBS is seeking a Training Instructor for Aerospace Propulsion at Sheppard AFB. The primary purpose of this position is to provide training for airmen, foreign nationals, and other personnel in both basic and advanced skills related to the Aerospace Propulsion Jet Engine career field.

Responsibilities

Instructs students through assigned blocks of instruction at basic and/or advanced levels
Develops and/or revises lesson plans and training materials
Monitors and evaluates student progress and performance
Inputs necessary data into the Technical Training Management System (TTMS)
Maintains professional and technical expertise

Position has been identified as a faculty member of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) which is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC)
Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft
May be required to work on special projects as directed by the supervisor
This position has been identified as Technical Training Essential
Work is performed in a classroom environment that involves everyday risks and common safety precautions
May at times require long periods of standing
Heavy lifting, 45 pounds and over
Hearing (Aid permitted)
Wearing of protective ear gear is required when performing work in excessive noise area
Eye protection is required when safety wiring or working under an engine
Safety toes footwear is required when instructing in the lab
Environmental Factors: Excessive noise (intermittent), Working around machinery with moving parts, Working closely with others, Working Alone, Excessive Heat
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems
Knowledge of the methods, principles, practices, and programs related to curriculum development, instructional techniques, training resources, and test and measurement
Knowledge of command directives, concepts, procedures, guidance, and policy as they relate to the area of responsibility
Knowledge of the installation/command mission and organization
Knowledge of doctrine, safety, first aid, metric notation, basic electronics, foreign object damage prevention, training aids/devices, jet/turbo prop engine theory/construction, operation and maintenance
Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B or J.D. with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible
One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of instruction, Knowledge of training aids and devices used in training programs, and jet engine theory/construction, operation and maintenance, Knowledge of instructional design and materials development for assigned courses, Knowledge of computer applications, tests and measurement principles, techniques, and objectives, Skill in written and oral communication, Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel, Ability to analyze problems and develop appropriate solutions
