Engineering Manager

The role involves overseeing engineering projects, managing system problems, and coordinating with internal customers to meet their computing and networking needs.
Responsibilities
INTERVIEWS and/or APPROVES job applicants for employment
CONDUCTS and/or REVIEWS associate Performance Appraisals
INITIATES or APPROVES salary adjustments, performance ratings, and other personnel changes
COUNSELS associates and TAKES disciplinary action or TERMINATES the employment of associates as appropriate
SCHEDULES the activities of engineering associates
MANAGES the resolution of system problems
CHAMPIONS the implementation of engineering quality to include unit testing, automation testing, and security testing among others
COORDINATES with internal customers to meet their computing and networking needs
PARTICIPATES in production incident calls
EVALUATES job assignments, processes, procedures and organizational structure to provide the most effective service delivery
LEADS the development of OKRs for assigned products and deliverables and oversees progress reporting on these objectives
MANAGES engineering projects using appropriate agile methodologies
COORDINATES with other engineering groups for scheduling and execution of projects
FACILITATES external communication with stakeholders and MAINTAINS transparency with business partners
ANALYZES the technical architectures, designs and requirements for highly complex business software systems and proposes engineering solutions
REVIEWS computer and network systems installations, configurations, procedures, and processes to ensure functionality
EVALUATES current and projected hardware and software needs
COLLABORATES with product management to shape the vision for product artifacts and serves as a co-owner
ADHERES to the Code of Conduct, company policies, and operating principles
MEETS attendance standard at business location to perform necessary job functions and to facilitate interaction with subordinates and management
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field required
Must be able to, with or without accommodation, perform the essential functions which include, but are not limited to seeing, hearing, typing and speaking
Must be able to use a PC
Must be able to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts or facilitate conflict resolution, and have strong organization/priority setting skills
Must be able to multi-task
Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information, and follow processes that have been published
Must be knowledgeable of software coding and following standards and processes that have been published and the guidelines for the design
Must be able to provide system training to team members as needed
Must be able to communicate in a clear, concise, professional oral or written manner, to be understood by customers, clients, co-workers and other employees of the organization
Must be able to perform under pressure and stressful situations
May be required to be on call for production support 24x7
Must be able to concentrate and demonstrate a capacity for learning technical concepts and adapting to new technologies quickly
Preferred
8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including software development lifecycle best practices
3+ years of development in a large-scale, mission-critical environment
3+ years of hands-on work experience supervising personnel in a technical environment
1+ years' experience with automated testing including Unit, Integration, and End-to-End functional testing
