Responsibilities
Operate survey equipment to collect and/or utilize survey data for construction layout, boundary surveys and topographic surveys
Calculating and inputting grades for construction
Prioritizing project survey needs based on tempo of construction
Completing boundary surveys using best practice methods and within legal error limits
Establish and maintain local ground control utilizing GPS systems
Download/upload of survey data onto survey data collectors and network servers; processing, analyzing and editing of field data
Delegation of tasks to instrument operator to ensure workflow is efficient
Operate a City-owned vehicle to travel to and from work sites on a daily basis
Qualification
Required
Associate's Degree or 2 Years of College in Engineering, Surveying or related field; 1 to 3 years' experience in paraprofessional engineering, field surveying, or related work
Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
Professional Land Surveying License
Experience in surveying, particularly on construction projects
Ability to balance multiple tasks delegated and prioritize based on crew/job needs
Ability to read and understand complex plan sheets
Familiarity with surveying software and data collection
