IT Security Intern (Summer 2026)

Total Quality Logistics is one of the largest freight brokerage firms in the nation, and they are seeking an IT Security Intern for the summer of 2026. The intern will contribute to the protection of the company by monitoring real-time activity, supporting remediation efforts, and implementing security enhancements as part of the Information Security Program.

Responsibilities

Investigate and resolve complex security issues
Prioritize and support remediation efforts from internal and external penetration tests
Recommend and implement security enhancements based on research and future needs
Design and manage access controls, permissions and resource protections
Configure and support security technologies including IPS, EDR, SIEM, NAC, antivirus and patch management tools
Test, deploy and maintain cybersecurity toolsets
Conduct vulnerability testing, risk analysis and system security assessments
Support incident response efforts and create/update runbooks
Perform audits to identify security gaps or inefficiencies
Deliver quarterly reports on the status of TQL’s physical, data and application security
Contribute to the annual security strategy report
Gain hands‑on experience working with NIST and OWASP frameworks

Required

Current student graduating between December 2026 - May 2027
Pursuing a degree in a related Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science or similar field
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Hunger to learn, ask questions and challenge ideas in a collaborative way
Foundational knowledge of networking, operating systems, or basic security concepts (coursework or self‑study is great!)
Ability to troubleshoot issues independently and think critically when approaching problems
