Project Engineer
Algas-SDI is a company that designs and builds critical energy systems for various industries. They are seeking a Project Engineer who will take ownership of engineered systems from concept to commissioning, ensuring performance, safety, and compliance while driving execution and risk management.

Responsibilities
Own engineered systems from concept to delivery
Define project requirements by reviewing proposals, customer specifications, performance standards, and applicable codes
Develop engineering design plans and required deliverables for complex systems
Conduct and participate in design reviews to ensure performance, safety, quality, and compliance
Design, execute, and validate product testing; support field validation during commissioning as needed
Partner with project management to develop realistic schedules and resource plans for engineering deliverables
Track progress, identify risks, and communicate technical or schedule concerns early
Ensure internal teams and external partners have the information they need to execute effectively
Serve as a technical resource for sales, production, customers, and service teams
Work with external engineering consultants to address specialized technical challenges
Collaborate with vendors to specify, source, and evaluate components and equipment
Assist Sales with bid and proposal activities to ensure customer requirements are well understood and effectively addressed
Monitor material and labor costs during design and identify cost-effective solutions that meet performance and quality requirements
Create and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, bill of materials, manuals, Engineering changes, and Quality records
Support third-party certifications and approvals (UL, FM, CSA, etc.) as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
5 years of experience in a Project Engineer or similar systems-focused engineering role
Proficiency with Excel, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across functions
Hands-on mechanical aptitude—you're comfortable working directly with hardware and assemblies
Preferred
Heat transfer and thermodynamics
Combustion systems and fuel trains
Fluid systems and component sizing
Fans, blowers, and flow equipment
Pressure vessel design (ASME Sections I, II, VIII, IX)
Materials, corrosion, and compatibility
Industrial wiring and hazardous locations
PLC fundamentals and basic circuit design
Process piping design
