Responsibilities

Serves as a co-owner on many cases and provides consultation to attorneys, staff and management in the Settlement Bureau involving advanced accounting-related issues relating to the most complex personal income tax and pass-through entity settlement cases
This includes, but is not limited to, calculating and/or confirming complex amounts in controversy, computing tax valuation of various issues, determining the cash flow impact and advising on complex audit-related matters
This typically involves preparing clear and detailed schedules and memos relating to taxpayers with complex accounts over multiple tax years
This position provides assistance with all aspects of calculations related to the assigned case, from case assignment through closeout

Required

Ability to prepare complex, clear and accurate excel schedules and memos detailing tax, penalties and interest
Experience calculating the tax effect of multiple complex multistate issues or personal income tax and pass-through issues
Experience reviewing account transcripts of corporations or Personal Income Tax (PIT) interest computations
Ability to identify, explain and resolve complex taxpayer account issues
Ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines and balance multiple highly complex assignments
Strong interpersonal, problem solving analytical, planning and collaboration skills
Outstanding customer service skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
Ability to present complex ideas and information effectively both orally and in writing
Experience evaluating complex arguments and positions relating to complex multi-state taxpayers or personal income tax and pass-through entity taxpayers
Solution oriented and/or negotiation experience
Knowledge of taxpayer accounts (Professional Audit Support system (PASS), Business Entities Tax Systems (BETS), Taxpayer Information (Tl), Taxpayer Folder (TPF), Automated Interest Program (ADINT), Secretary of State (SOS)
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
